GILLES PETERSON - THE DEEP END MIX

Recorded last may to celebrate the life of the late great jazz drummer, Steve Reid, who died on April 13th 2010. The Mix kicks off with Motherless Child composed by Max Roach a beautiful start to a mix that takes you on a journey through double bass trios, big band jazz, soft swing, experimental soul, all the way to disco funk. ACKRYTE

Ackryte is a HipHop producer that is heavily influenced by jazz. Sampling is his main method of production, he does this with virtuoso technique cutting and splicing melodies whilst mixing it up with sloppy mismatch beats, which makes for a killer sweet smooth listen.

Also check out - Love Exposure, on Cascade Records. An absolutely scorching free downloadable album featuring fellow JazzyHipHop masters, Broke, and Repeat Pattern.

JP HARTNETT

John-Patrick Hartnett is an Irish pianist, composer and graphic designer specialising in art, music and the culture sectors. We have featured and his EP - Don't Forget Everything, twice on our show now, for good reason. His beautiful mystical atmospheres and ambient melodies are something almost other worldly, that stretches beyond the great realms of jazz and even classical. He recorded everything using an old Cramer piano at his home in West Ham, adding delay and other effects to produce the huge sound of his EP.

This is something quite special and is perfect for drifting off to, or delving into deep state. You can download the entire EP for free from his website: http://jphartnett.net/music/dont-forget-everything/.

Be sure to check out his graphic design work as well.
